Forum Background
China is at a critical stage of industrialisation and urbanisation, and at the same time is dealing with an aging population. The grim reality is that Chinese employees are generally suffering under both mental and physical pressures, huge responsibilities and demoralising conditions. Meanwhile, chronic disease in China is also growing rapidly. Unprecedented problems associated with an aging population and chronic disease have become a global crisis. This is also a common challenge in the international health risk management related field.
In the face of multiple crises, each side is faced with great pressures. These include the global market environment of fierce competition and rapid changes, how enterprises deal with high-pressure situations, and how to build effective physical and mental health risk management systems to improve mutual satisfaction and to avoid the risks to productivity posed by employees' physical and mental health problems. Another challenge is how the insurance industry should decrease the claim risk and improve personalised service and professional operation management capability to accelerate development. At the same time, societal, economic and individual development are all under heavy pressure.
The objective of the 2012 International Health Risk Management Forum was to exchange solutions to deal with an aging population, the high incidence of chronic diseases, and increased work pressures in different countries. A further objective was to have a deep discussion about key issues, including the current situation, challenges, and solutions relating to employee physical and mental health, in order to actively advance the development of health risk management practices. Other goals are to fundamentally alleviate the disparities between supply and demand in medical care, advance the practice of modern health service model consensus in China (advocated by the World Health Organisation, WHO), and to develop conversion and development in each area of the industry chain. There is also a need to actively source solutions that adapt to social and national economic development and conditions.
